Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has awarded contracts worth US$5.4 million to a number of national companies for the installation of 840 kilometres of 11kV cables as part of plans to improve the capacity and efficiency of the electric grid.
“The implementation of this project will manage growing demand for electricity from all our customers. The scope of the contracts include the supply of both aluminium and copper cables that are needed to achieve the objectives of our electricity grid growth plan in various areas of Dubai, these cables will be utilised in several ongoing and upcoming DEWA projects,” said DEWA CEO and MD, H.E. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer.
DEWA is currently engaged in a programmed of grid enhancements across Dubai’s network, including the recent announcement of a $39.2 million substation in Jebel Ali and the inauguration of a $26 million 132/11kV substation at Kafaf.
