Power stations in the Al Wusta and Musandam areas of Oman will be supplied by the Oman Oil Marketing Company, under a new $75m contract set to last until May 31 2013.

Under the terms of the contract, OOMCO will supply 210 million litres of fuel to 12 of the 18 power stations run by the Rural Areas Electricity Co; an agreement that’s significantly larger than previous deals.

“The previous contract had expired,” said Nabeel al Ruwaidhi, general manager of corporate affairs and business development at OOMCO told the Muscat Daily. “We applied again, but the scope this time is bigger and involved more supply; it’s definitely an important part of our business. The commercial business is one of our most important in terms of profit generation.”
