UAE's FEWA invites EOI for desalination projects
The two projects would be located in the emirates of Ras Al Khaimah and Umm Al Quwain respectively
Federal Electricity and Water Authority (FEWA), the utility provider for the UAE's Northern Emirates, has invited companies to submit expressions of interest (EOI) for design and construction of two sea water reverse osmosis (SWRO) desalination projects.
The authority is planning a 30 million imperial gallons per day (MIGD) SWRO project in Ghallilah in Ras Al Khaimah emirate and a 45 MIGD project near Emirates Modern Industrial Area in Umm Al Quwain emirate, according to a public invite.
The scope of work for both projects includes design, supply, construction, installation, testing and commissioning.
The final date of submission is 23 July, 2018.
Last month, FEWA had chosen a consortium led by Riyadh-based ACWA Power and local company Tecton Engineering and Construction as the preferred bidder for 45 MIGD independent water plant in Umm Al Quwain, according to a report by UAE official news agency WAM.
FEWA intends to commence three other desalination plants, which will be tendered before the end of 2018, it quoted director-general Mohammed Salah as saying.
