Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower) has announced that it will provide 3,900 Refrigeration Tonnes (RT) district cooling services to Wasl Tower located on Dubai’s Sheikh Zayed Road.

The 300-metre-high tower consists of 64 floors and features one of the world’s tallest ceramic façades, and that includes office, hotel and residential towers.

Empower also announced that the project will be served from its district cooling plant in Business Bay, and that work to connect the building has already commenced, and will be delivered in the last quarter of  2019.

The infrastructure for the district cooling system in the tower will connect the building to Empower’s cooling plants in Business Bay, on the opposite side of wasl Tower.

They will be linked through the construction of a network using state-of-the-art technology to connect pipes via a tunnel under Sheikh Zayed Road.

Empower is in the process of serving more leading real estate projects and aims to provide all Dubai sectors — residential, commercial and entertainment facilities — with district cooling services that have sustainable international standards,” said Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower.

“Adding Wasl to our portfolio reflects the confidence of real estate developers and customers in our reliable services. It also enhances Empower's role in delivering quality cooling services that use up to 50% less energy than conventional cooling systems.”

The Wasl Tower will cover an area of 7,880 square metres and will be a new landmark in Dubai. Its system will consist of a central concrete core with a unique ceramic facade that harmonises with the architectural design of the building, taking into account all safety, environmental and economic aspects.

His Excellency Hesham Al Qassim, CEO of Wasl Asset Management, said that move will enhance sustainability in the UAE’s real estate sector.

Empower currently operates in over 1,000 multi-use residential and commercial buildings, shopping malls, hospitals, schools, universities, hotels, among others.

It also serves several leading real estate projects, including the Museum of Future, Jumeirah Village South, the Bluewaters project, and The Opus in Business Bay.
