Swiss International Scientific School in Dubai (SISD) has partnered with Dubai-based Yellow Door Energy to start generating solar energy from its campus.
The bilingual IB school will start installing solar panels during the upcoming summer break to produce a significant portion of its energy requirements.
1,366 solar panels will be installed across a sprawling 3,000 square meters, an area larger than three tennis courts.
This ambitious project will not only provide shaded parking for 200 vehicles but also generate approximately 1,300 megawatt-hours of clean energy in its first year of operation, effectively offsetting 920 metric tons of carbon emissions.
Throughout its estimated lifespan of 25 years, the solar power system is projected to produce a staggering 30,680 megawatt-hours of clean energy, while preventing 21,700 metric tons of carbon emissions.
The much-anticipated project is anticipated to be operational by October 2023.
Yellow Door Energy, the solar developer, will handle the financing, design, construction, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of the solar plant throughout the lease period.
Solar leasing enables businesses to reduce energy costs without upfront investment or operational risk, allowing them to focus on their core activities while enjoying the benefits of clean energy.
