Tender floated for 146MW of solar, diesel and storage hybrid projects at 11 sites in Oman
The Rural Areas Electricity Company indicated that all 11 projects will be awarded to a single bidder
A tender for 146MW of solar, diesel and storage hybrid projects at 11 sites in Oman has been floated by the Sultanate’s Rural Areas Electricity Company.
The development of photovoltaic power projects and battery energy storage system is required at locations in Madha, Masrooq, Mittan, Al Mazyunah, Farshat Qatbeet, Al Hallaniyat, Hasik, Hitam, Al Khadrah, Al Khuwaimah, and Masirah.
Further work includes the development of two greenfield diesel generation power projects at two of the sites – namely Madha and Mittan - and the replacement and addition of a new diesel generator.
Bidding closes on 19 September 2019, with the Rural Areas Electricity Company indicating that all 11 projects will be awarded to a single bidder.
It also stated that it would not consider bids from applicants who cannot demonstrate a history of delivering hybrid power systems comprising solar PV and diesel generator sets for an aggregate capacity of at least 5MW.
