Renewable energy generation by Enel down by 6.2% in H1 2019

During the second quarter of 2019, renewables produced 24,325 GWh, a decline from 26,717 GWh recorded in the same period last year

Enel SpA (BIT:ENEL) produced globally 47,066 GWh of electricity from renewables during the first half of 2019, down by 6.2% year-on-year, according to the latest report by the Italian energy group.

During the second quarter of 2019, renewables produced 24,325 GWh, a decline from 26,717 GWh recorded in the same period last year.

The net production decline was registered mostly in Enel's European markets. In the Iberian peninsula, it plunged by 33% year-on-year, dragged down by low hydropower output.

In North America and in Africa, Asia and Oceania markets, the production from renewables increased by 5.9% and 6.4% year-on-year, respectively.

The Enel Group had 39,385 MW of installed renewable energy capacity worldwide at the end of June compared to 39,786 MW a year earlier. During the first six months of 2019, the Italian company added 758 MW of new capacity.
