GE supplies turbines for Kurdistan plant expansion
Mass Global to increase capacity of Arbil plant by 375MW
GE today announced it is providing power generation equipment to the expansion of the Arbil Plant in Northern Iraq.
The company has sold three Frame 9E gas turbines and generators to Mass Global Investment Company, the independent power company which owns the plant in the Kurdistan autonomous region, and is expanding its capacity by 375MW.
“Our mission is in line with the Kurdistan regional government’s initiative calling for the private sector to help meet the energy requirements in this region,” said Ahmad Ismail, chairman of Mass Global.
GE is also providing equipment for two other Mass Global projects in the same region. When all of the current projects are completed, the total electricity capacity of Mass Global-developed power plants in the Kurdistan region will be increased to 2,200 MW.
