Saudi Arabia’s AlFanar Construction Company has won two major substation contracts in the Kingdom.

The firm was awarded a US $67.7 million (SR254 million) Jizan 380/132/12.8kv Substation contract by Jizan Economic City Land Ltd and a $29.3 million 132/13.8kV substation at King Abdul Aziz Medical City (KAMC) in Riyadh.

The Jizan contract, which is expected to take two years, will connect the substation via 380kV double circuit overhead transmission lines from the Shuqaiq IWPP 380kV substation and the Kudmi 380kV substation.

As part of the health authority’s attempt to improve the power supply to KAMC, AlFanar’s 16-month strategic contract involves laying 132kV power and fibre-optic cable circuits.

AlFanar is currently working on projects worth more than $1.3 billion in different parts of Said Arabia for a number of firms, including Saudi Electricity Company.
