Electricity consumption in Bahrain last week reached a record of 2,650MW, reports the Bahrain Tribune.
As temperatures were in 40 degrees Celsius, power consumption levels soared, with the Electricity and Water Authority confirming that consumption reached an the all time high on Monday.
The Kingdom's power grid was able to withstand this challenge and no major power outages were experienced, said the authority.
Minister of Works Fahmi Al Jowdar, who heads the authority, said that the minor power outages that occurred were limited and were fixed in record time.
The minister said that the high levels of consumption are the result of growing urban development.
