Palm Utilities receives reward for desal system
Company receives Water Project Award at the Arab Investment Summit.
Palm Utilities received the Best Water Project Award during the Arab Investment Summit 2010 held recently in Abu Dhabi.
The utilities provider was recognised for its use of the Dual Work Exchanger Energy Recovery (DWEER) system used at the Palm Jumeirah seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) plants, which reduced power consumption by up to 19 percent, according to the company.
The DWEER system has been in operation for the past 18 months. In the period between January 2009 and January 2010, the system has helped save over 3.3 million kW/hour in energy consumption through the reuse of reject energy, the company said in a statement.
Commenting on the company’s commitment to sustainability, CEO Yousuf Kazim said: “Palm Utilities has made significant investments to constantly improve our technology and maintain a highly skilled and experienced team of specialists.”
Palm Utilities has been providing water and cooling systems to some of the UAE's most high-profile utility projects, including the Palm Jumeirah, Jumeirah Lake Towers, and Jumeirah Islands.
