Siemens appoints Jean-Claude Nasr to lead power generation business in ME
Nasr is expected to drive business towards meeting the region’s requirements for additional power generation capacity and diversifying its energy mix
Siemens has appointed Jean-Claude Nasr (52) as Senior Executive Vice President of the company’s Power Generation division in the Middle East, effective June 1, 2017. Based in Dubai, UAE, Nasr will be instrumental in supporting the region’s needs for additional power generation capacity and a diversified energy mix.
His experience, spanning more than 20 years in power generation, oil and gas, and energy management will be key to helping the region address foreseen power generation challenges such as affordability, sustainability, efficiency and energy security. Nasr takes over from Jeff Dunlap, who will move to the U.S. to undertake new responsibilities at Siemens.
“Jean-Claude Nasr brings a diverse regional experience to our Middle East management team. We expect the region to require additional power generation capacity of 267 gigawatts by 2030, representing a 66 percent increase from 2015. Nasr’s sector and leadership experience will be invaluable in building more affordable, reliable and highly-efficient power plants in the region,” said Dietmar Siersdorfer, CEO of Siemens Middle East and UAE.
Nasr began his career in sales with the industry in 1990 and subsequently took on a number of managerial positions, working across the Middle East, Africa, India, Pakistan and Turkey.
Nasr holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Florida Institute of Technology and a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Central Florida.
