Oman increases water, power production

Oman has registered a significant surge in its gross electricity production, with last year’s total power generation capacity increasing by 4.5% to 34,222.6GW, against 32,756.7GW in 2015.

Meanwhile, the sultanate produced 377.92mn m3 of water last year, logging an annual increase of 12.2 per cent. Muscat saw the production grow up by nine per cent to 170.74mn m3, while water production in Dhofar surged by 28.5 per cent to 48.33mn m3.
The total production across other governorates went up by 11.4 per cent to 158.84mn m3. Gross electricity production in Muscat declined by 31 per cent to 3,878.8GW, while Dhofar logged a 1.7 per cent rise in production at 3,372.2GW.
Production in Musandam went up by 2.2 per cent to 365.4GW, even as Dakhliyah logged a decline of 11.8 per cent at 1,149.9GW.
