Siemens to build substations in northern Emirates
Local partnership proves a success.
Siemens has been awarded two contracts by the Abu Dhabi’s Federal Electricity and Water Authority (FEWA) to built and modify substations in the north of the UAE. The orders were awarded via the local Al Jaber Group, and have a combined value of approximately AED90 million, Siemens announced on Sunday.
The two orders include the supply and installation of seven medium voltage turnkey substations, as well as the extension and modification of 22 existing substations in Ajman, Dhaid, Dibba, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah and Umm Al Quwain. The power supply project is scheduled for completion within 12 months. The seven substations for the 33/11kV voltage levels will comprise more than 350 medium voltage panels and around 150 panels for control and protection.
“We are proud that our efficient and proven solutions will contribute to further expand the power distribution network of the northern Emirates” commented Wolfgang Braun, regional head within the Power Transmission and Power Distribution Divisions of Siemens Energy“.
It is the first time Siemens has been commissioned by FEWA to provide 33/11kV substation order on a turnkey basis. Siemens attributes the successful conclusion of the deal to the partnership with the Al Jaber group.
