Chinese solar firm JinkoSolar Holding (NYSE:JKS) said today it has delivered 5 MW of its photovoltaic (PV) modules to TSK Electronica y Electricidad SA for a 10 MW solar project in Kuwait.

The JinkoSolar modules will form the PV portion of the Shagaya solar park, which will also use 5 MW of thin-film panels. At the end of November 2015, Japanese company Solar Frontier KK said it was going to supply copper indium diselenide (CIS) thin-film solar modules for that same project.

JinkoSolar noted that this is Kuwait’s first integrated renewable project. Upon completion, it is estimated to generate more than 9,624 MWh of electricity per year.

"The Arab states of the Persian Gulf market is growing very fast,” said Gener Miao, vice president of global sales and marketing at JinkoSolar. The government of Kuwait wants solar power to account for 15% of the country’s total energy consumption by 2030, Miao added.
