Kuwaiti cleantech company EnerTech Holding Co has agreed to build 50 MW to 500 MW of photovoltaic (PV) power generation capacity in Pakistan, local media reported.

The firm, part of National Technology Enterprises Co (NTEC), has signed in Quetta a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the provincial government of Balochistan on Thursday. The solar capacity will be deployed in phases, according to the reports.

The deal aligns with the local authority’s strategy to attract foreign investments in various sectors, including solar energy. The government has already produced a comprehensive policy, aimed at providing maximum support to foreign investors.

The announcement comes just a week after Pakistan's National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) proposed new upfront feed-in tariffs (FiTs) for PV and wind power plants in the country.
