Water woes for Muscat residents are set to ease following the completion of the second and final stage of connecting the new pumping station in Al Ghubra neighbourhood with the main tanks in Muscat’s desalination plant.

The pipes were connected using the hot tapping technology, which has been used for the first time by the Public Authority for Electricity and Water (PAEW).

Teams from the PAEW connected water lines with the new pumping station in Al Ghubra neighbourhood, and reviewed all the work associated with the second stage and evaluated all the data of laying of pipes over the two stages.

Hot tapping technology, used for the first time by PAEW, does not interrupt the flow of water during the improvements in water networks, according to Dr. Fahd bin Salim Al Hosni, Director General of Projects at PAEW.

It allows workers to carry on their work until the end without the need to stop the flow of water.
