DEWA in new solar partnership

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority ( DEWA ) has partnered with a Dubai-based luxury hospitality developer and holding company, Seven Tides International to encourage building owners to install photovoltaic solar panels to generate electricity, and develop smart applications to speed up electricity connections.

DEWA and Seven Tides International signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to enhance cooperation between the two parties, to achieve DEWA’s three smart initiatives: Shams Dubai, Smart Applications and Grids and Green Charger.

The partnership will also guarantee fast response times for the immediate reconnection of electricity during power outages, in addition to smart consumption and smart metering. It also aims to improve the sustainability of resources, in addition to establishing infrastructure for electric vehicle charging stations.

“We continuously work to involve the right people to achieve our development goals, which fully support the UAE National Vision 2021 and Dubai Strategy 2021," said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.

Al Tayer observed that the MoU supports DEWA 's efforts to achieve the Smart City initiative, launched by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, to make Dubai the smartest city in the world.
