L&T Oman bags $90mn grid contracts
Indian contractor to carry out EPC work on substations in the Sultanate.
Larsen & Toubro Oman has been awarded two major contracts with a combined value of OMR 33.65mn ($87.3mn) by Oman Electricity Transmission Co (OETC) for engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of grid stations.
The subsidiary of Indian contractor L&T Oman bagged two major orders from OETC for work on 132kV grid stations at Saada and the 220kV/132kV/33kV grid station at Madinat Sultan Qaboos, the company said in a statement on Wednesday.
Apart from the Oman contracts, L&T Construction won a QAR 491.45mn ($134.8mn) order from Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation for its ongoing Qatar Electricity Transmission Network Expansion Plan phase XII. The order encompasses the EPC of two substation packages.
L&T also received an order from Dubai Electricity and Water Authority for the construction of a 132/11kV substation in Dubai. Another order was bagged from a reputed Middle East customer for the supply of 33kV transmission towers, the statement said.
