PAEW completes phase 1 of Al Ghubrah pipeline
Link will transport water from Oman's newest desalination plant around the water network.
Oman’s Public Authority for Electricity and Water (PAEW) has completed the first phase of a water pipeline to connect a new desalination plant to the network.
The 1,600mm pipeline extends from the Al Ghubrah desalination plant in Muscat to the Al Qurum storage tank, replacing an older pipeline.
Work on the rest of the project has reached 74% completion, PAEW said in a statement.
The project will stretch for nearly 14km from Al Ghubrah to the Wadi Adai pumping station. A 4.7 km extension will be constructed to transfer water to Ruwi tank.
A branch will forks into another line which feeds Bausher tank storage.
