DEWA progresses $46mn water network expansion
Dubai utility lays a third of 25km project and is on track to finish in January.
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has achieved significant progress in developing Dubai’s water transmission networks by 25km.
The project includes the extension of glass reinforced (GRE) main water pipelines of different diameters, in addition to remote monitoring and control systems.
“Over 33% of the total length at over 8.3 km has been accomplished already. The total cost of the project is AED 170 million,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.
“The project also includes 17 sites for connections between major transmission lines to increase the quantity of water flow and to ensure the continuity of water supply to support current and future projects, thus enhancing efficiency.
“The project implementation has commenced in accordance with the planned schedule and we expect to finish it by January 2016,” concluded Al Tayer.
