Oman to tender three more solar projects
Raeco to develop small scale plants in rural areas not connected to the grid.
Rural Areas Electricity Company (Raeco) plans to tender for three solar power projects in the fourth quarter of this year.
The projects will be developed in Duqm, Masirah and another region, the Times of Oman reported.
"We have completed feasibility studies for three projects and tenders will be launched in the last quarter of this year," Eng Hamad Al Maghdari, chief executive officer of Raeco, told the newspaper.
Earlier this week it was announced the Oman’s Authority for Electricity Regulation (AER) gave Bahwan Astonfield Solar Energy the greenlight to develop a 303 KW installation.
The project, in the southern Governate of Dhofar, will supply power to the Rural Areas Electricity Company (RAECO) under a two-year contract.
