DEWA launches two Static VAR Compensator stations
Dubai boosts HV network with $64mn stations in Al Nahda and Ras Al Khor.
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has launched two Static VAR Compensator (SVC) stations in Al Nahda and Ras Al Khor at a cost of AED 236mn ($64mn).
This is part of DEWA’s continuous efforts to support the 400kV-high voltage electricity transmission network and to improve performance of the power transmission system.
“The project strengthens the capacity of electricity transmission networks by enhancing transmission capacity to the maximum and reducing power transmission losses to the minimum,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.
“It balances the transmission system, maintains supply voltage to raise the efficiency and reliability of the network in these key areas. It also ensures a continuous and stable supply to customers at all times,” he added.
