DEWA begins water network extension

Utility starts project to boost flow between Jebel Ali and Al Quoz.

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has started a AED 108mn ($29.4mn) project to supply, extend, and launch a 16km main water distribution network between Jebel Ali and Al Quoz.

The project includes extending the 1,200 mm Glass Reinforced Epoxy (GRE) water transmission pipeline from Jebel Ali, through Al Khail Road, to the pumping station complex in Al Quoz, DEWA announced.

It also includes a remote control and monitoring system to enhance transmission capacity between the two locations.

The project also includes connecting the main transmission lines in different locations to increase water flow and meet increasing demand in those areas according to approved plans.
The project is expected be completed in September 2016.
