Financial advisor sought for Salalah IWPP in Oman
OPWP tenders contract ahead of potential refinancing of 450MW Sembcorp project.
Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP) is seeking a Financial Advisor to support the potential refinancing of the Salalah Independent Water & Power Project (IWPP).
Specialised companies are invited to submit their offers for the tender by 21 April, OPWP said in a statement on its website.
Tender documents will be available for purchase from its offices until 7 April 2015.
Sembcorp Salalah owns and operates the power and water project which it commissioned in May 2012.
The gas-fired power plant has a gross capacity of 490 megawatts (net capacity of 445MW) and a seawater desalination plant with an output of 15 million imperial gallons (69,000 cubic metres) per day.
OPWP buys the output under a 15-year power and water purchase agreement.
Besides the Salalah IWPP, Sembcorp also owns, operates and maintains the Fujairah 1 Independent Water and Power Plant – one of the world’s largest operating hybrid desalination plants – in the UAE since 2006.
