UAE boosts water storage capacity
Eight dams completed in Fujairah allow for additional 700,000 m3.
The Ministry of Environment and Water has completed building eight water dams in the emirate of Fujairah, according to state news agency WAM.
The dams and flood-protection barriers, which were completed last month on Sakamkam Basin, have storage capacity of around 700,000 cubic metres of water (154 million gallons) which would otherwise flow into the sea.
These water projects were implemented as part of the National Strategy for Water Resources Management and Sustainability.
