Oman seeks contractor for solar monitoring sites
Winning bidder will carry out O&M services and collect data from two locations.
Oman has tendered a contract for the operation and maintenance (O&M) of a pair of solar power monitoring sites in the Sultanate.
The winning bidder will ensure the integrity of the sites close to the cities of Adam and Manah respectively, as well as collecting data consistently and accurately.
In a statement on its website, Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP) said the data is freely available to the public and is intended to quantify Omans’ availability of Solar Resources.
Interested companies have until April 9 to respond to the Request for Proposal (RFP).
The solar monitoring sites are part of OPWPs’ push for sustainability and utilisation of renewable sources of energy.
Oman was planning to build a large scale grid-connected solar power project of around 200MW in one of the locations a few years ago, but did not proceed with the plan, according to the Times of Oman.
