Oman’s Public Authority for Electricity and Water (PAEW) has floated a tender to build a water transmission pipeline between Bausher and Seeb, reports Times of Oman.

Potential bidders have until 9 February, 2015 to submit their bids while the tender documents will be distributed up to 8 January, according to the announcement on Tender Board website.

Three companies – Larsen & Toubro (Oman), Societe Egyptienne d’Enterprises and Towell Infrastructure Projects – have already expressed interest, the newspaper says.

In total, PAEW serves more than 1.5 million people, transporting on average more than 650,000 cubic metres of water per day.

Just last week Oman awarded the contract to develop the $250mn Qurayyat IWP to a consortium of Hyflux of Singapore and National Power and Water Co.

The desalination project will have the capacity to produce 200,000 cm3 of water per day and is due to start operations in mid 2017.
