DEWA completes $67mn reservoir
Project will boost Emirate's water storage capacity to three days use.
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is close to completing construction of a AED246mn ($67mn) reservoir.
The project at Al Lusaily includes building two reservoirs with a total storage capacity of 120 million gallons of desalinated water.
One of the units has been complete with the second due to finish in January.
It will increase Dubai’s total water reserves to 790 million gallons, equivalent to three days of water use in the Emirate.
All civil construction works and 50% of the mechanical works at the reservoir have now been completed.
"This will strengthen the water network and increase water storage capacity in different parts of Dubai,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.
“This increases daily storage to the equivalent of three days of water use by the Emirate of Dubai, which exceeds DEWA’s objectives to secure a minimum of two-day water reserves,” added Al Tayer.
