Foster Wheeler to help upgrade Saudi power plant
Al-Toukhi orders heat recovery steam units for Hail 2 plant.
Foster Wheeler's power division has won a contract to design and build four large heat recovery steam generating units for a power plant in the central region of Saudi Arabia.
The firm said the order from Al-Toukhi Company will see the units being installed at the Hail 2 Power plant in the city of Hail.
It will allow four existing Siemens combustion turbines to be converted into combined cycle units.
This will see the oil-fired plant increase its power output by 147MW off the same amount of fuel.
Byron Roth, CEO of Foster Wheeler’s Environmental and Industrial Group, said: "Foster Wheeler is pleased to supply these HRSGs for SEC’s Hail 2 project featuring our improved state-of-the-art design for vertical HRSGs.”
Foster Wheeler is in the process of a takeover by UK-based engineering firm Amec, which made a $3.3bn offer for the company in February.
