Bahrain sees power demand hit a peak
Consumption crosses 3,000MW mark for the first time this summer.
Bahrain has recorded its highest level of electricity consumption of the summer.
Minister of State for Electricity and Water Affairs Dr Abdulhussain Mirza said demand hit 3,048MW at the end of last week.
“The previous highest was 2,040 MW, recorded on June 12,” Minister of State for Electricity and Water Affairs was quoted as saying by the Gulf Daily News.
Power consumption was expected to increase until mid-September with temperatures rising and families returning from summer vacation, he added.
The highest level of water consumption was recorded on Thursday, with 163 million gallons pumped in the EWA distribution network, he said.
