Dow Water makes senior regional appointments
Zakia Bahjou named commercial leader of Middle East and Africa.
Dow has named a new regional commercial leader to oversee its Dow Water and Process Solutions business for Middle East and Africa (MEA).
Zakia Bahjou has been appointed to lead the regional sales and technical teams as MEA Regional Commercial Manager.
With the upcoming expansion of Dow Water and Process Solutions throughout the region, Zakia is ideally positioned to ensure Dow’s water business addresses the needs of markets across the Middle East and Africa, the company said in a statement.
“Dow Water and Process Solutions is in a position to capitalise on the strength and experience of a highly capable leadership team to support our ongoing commitment to the Middle East and Africa region,” said Rajat Mehta, commercial director of Europe, Middle East and Africa.
“Zakia’s appointment will have a positive impact on achieving our plan for continued geographic expansion. She has a strong track record of leadership, robust business performance, and regional expertise.”
Zakia brings almost 17 years in finance, business development, sales and marketing in leading multinational companies such as Pechiney Alcan Algroup, Tetra Pak, Nestle and Danone Baby Nutrition across Middle East and Africa.
In a related move, Rami Abu Amirah, has been named to the newly created role of senior business development manager for the MEA region.
With the upcoming expansion of Dow Water and Process Solutions manufacturing footprint in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with the recently announced FILMTEC Reverse Osmosis membrane plant due to come on stream in 2015, Rami will lead pre-marketing and business development efforts.
He will also lead the expansion and implementation of business development strategy in the MEA region.
Rami joined Dow Water and Process Solutions as MEA Regional Marketing Manager in 2011 and a year later took over commercial responsibilities as the Regional Commercial Manager for the MENA region (Middle East and North Africa).
He has over 13 years of experience in the water industry across the Middle East.
Both assume their new roles on August 1, 2014 and are based in Dubai.
