First Solar wins EPC deal for Jordan solar project
US firm to build, operate and maintain 52.5MW Shams Ma'an plant.
First Solar has won the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for the 52.5 MW Shams Ma’an photovoltaic (PV) power plant in Jordan.
The company has also finalised a long-term operations and maintenance (O&M) contract for the project, it announced today.
First Solar co-developed the project with Jordan’s Kawar Group but recently divested its stake to a consortium of investors consisting of
Diamond Generating Europe, a subsidiary of the Mitsubishi Corp and Nebras Power, a subsidiary of the Qatar Electricity & Water Company; and the Kawar Group.
The terms of the sale were not disclosed.
National Electric Power Company (NEPCO), Jordan’s power generation and distribution authority will buy the output from the project under a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).
