DEWA completes AED 260 mn grid upgrade project
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority adds 45kms of new cables.
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has completed an AED 260 mn ($71mn) project to modify its transmission grid to redistribute loads across power stations.
DEWA implemented the changes to the 132kV transmission grid during the first half of 2014 to redistribute the load across 37 stations with 45kms of new cables.
Work is under way to raise the capacity of power plants, and introduce the latest technologies for improved efficiency.
DEWA is making 49 additional upgrades and upgrading its substations with the latest technologies to expand their capacity.
“As part of our strategic plan to increase the efficiency and reliability of power grids to meet the growth in demand for electricity, DEWA is implementing various infrastructure-development projects,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.
