Tabreed signs cooling deal with UAE University
Abu Dhabi firm to supply 17,500 tons to leading academic institution.
National Central Cooling Company (Tabreed) has renewed its district cooling agreement with the UAE University (UAEU).
The Abu Dhabi-based company will provide 17,500 tons of cooling for existing and future projects.
A statement did not reveal the length of the deal but Tabreed has been providing UAEU with cooling since 2009.
The renewal follows a similar AED6bn deal with the UAE armed forces earlier this month.
Jasim Husain Thabet, Tabreed’s CEO, said: “We are proud to provide critical infrastructure support to the leading educational institution in the country.
“We have been partnering with the UAE University for more than 5 years and this agreement further bolsters our strong relationship.
“During this period, we have focused on delivering energy-efficient and environmentally-friendly cooling solutions to the UAE University which has enabled them to reduce their energy consumption by about 26 million kWh annually.
“This saving translates into the elimination of over 11,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions from the atmosphere.”
UAEU projects under construction include storage facilities and student accommodation which are expected to be supplied with cooling by the end of the year.
