Habtoor Leighton Group (HLG) has won a $300mn contract to build pipelines for two sections of Doha’s Mega Reservoir Corridor Main 1 (Packages A & B) for Qatar’s General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa).

HLG will supply, install, test and commission of 120km of 1600mm diameter ductile iron pipes and fittings, a statement said. Works also include trench excavation, backfilling and construction of all valve chambers.

The project is the fifth project awarded to HLG by Kahramaa and brings the total value of new project awards to HLG so far this year to AED 7.4 bn ($2bn).

HLG CEO and managing director, Jose Antonio Lopez-Monis, said: “Securing repeat business from key government clients demonstrates that HLG remains a preferred contractor for clients to whom we have demonstrated our ability to deliver complex projects, safely, on time and on budget.

“Since 2009, HLG has been awarded QAR2.18 billion worth of contracts by KAHRAMAA. Our regionally-based team has an exceptional rapport with KAHRAMAA, and we expect this to continue well into the future.”

The pipelines project has already begun and is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2016.
