Oman awards $93.4mn gas pipeline deal
Mystery company to build 230km project to supply Duqm refinery.
Oman Gas Company has awarded a OMR 36mn ($93.4m) contract to build a gas pipeline to supply the Duqm Economic Zone.
Mansoor Al Abdali, acting general manager (Engineering) at the Sultanate's gas transportation company, said the winner would be announced soon, the Times of Oman reported.
The 36-inch pipeline will run for 230 kilometres project and is expected to be ready in 2018, Al Abdali added.
It will feed the Duqm refinery, which will possibly be the first gas consumer at the zone.
The internal and external coating for the pipes will be done locally, helping to stimulate the development of local industries and attract investment into the region.
