Dow highlights CSP solutions at Menasol 2014
Focus is on company's heat transfer fluid, Dowtherm A.
Amongst the items on show is Dowtherm A, a high temperature heat transfer fluid capable of accommodating temperatures up to 400 degrees Celsius. According to Dow, it is used in over 35 major CSP projects around the world.
CSP technology uses parabolic mirrors to reflect and magnify heat from the sun onto a closed circulating loop containing the Dowtherm A heat transfer fluid. The fluid collects the heat energy and transports it to a power station where it is used to produce steam, which drives turbines to generate electricity.
