First Palestinian solar thermal plant revs up
Beit Jala school to benefit from new facility
Industrial services provider Ferrostaal AG and the German Energy Agency announced that the first Palestinian solar thermal plant has begun operations near Beit Jala, in the West Bank.
The plant has a total collector surface of 200 square metres and will support a local school.
Utility expenses, diesel fuel use and CO2 emissions will be lowered substantially as a result of the move.
Ferrostaal says that the move symbolically serves as a demonstration and should encourage further projects in the region.
