TRC awards Oman solar desalination research grant
The focus of the research is desalination using renewable energy
Researchers at Oman's Caledonian College of Engineering (CCE) have been awarded a grant of US$380,000 from The Research Council (TRC), local media reported. The project will investigate the application of a new method for desalination using renewable energy.
The main objective is to explore a two-fold effect on the desalination process, firstly on the effects of dynamic pressure modulation on the process of evaporation and condensation, and secondly on the assessment of water quality for the traces of metal and heavy metals in desalinated water.
“Academic research is one of the key aspects of our strategic direction and I am sure our students and staff will benefit from this generous award. The continuing support from TRC has a positive impact in developing our research capacity," Ahmed al Bulushi, acting dean of CCE, was quotes as saying.
