Oman launches water management project
Project aims to study aspects related to the use of water resources
Oman's Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources (MRMWR) has launched a pilot Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) project in the South Batinah governorate, local media reported.
"The project aims to study all aspects related to the use of water resources, including legislation, environmental factors and social aspects,” Nasir bin Humaid al Hosni, assistant director general of water resources licences and development affairs, MRMWR, was quoted as saying.
The IWRM project is being undertaken in cooperation with the Dresden University of Germany along with the participation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs and the Oman Association of Farmers in South Batinah, in order to develop standards for optimal management of water.
Dresden University of Germany has collaborated with Oman’s Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs and the Oman Association of Farmers in South Batinah to develop the project.
