Iran biggest Middle East electricity producer
Country's total electricity generation currently stands at 70,000MWh
Iran is currently the biggest electricity producer in the Middle East, the managing director of Iran Power Generation Transmission & Distribution Management Company (TAVANIR) said, Mehr News Agency reported.
Homayoun Haeri said that Iran's total electricity generation currently stands at 70,000 megawatt-hour. The rank is due to the launch of the first geothermal generator in the next Iranian year (starting March 21, 2014), Mehr News Agency reported.
Haeri also said that in the next year, 600 megawatt-hour will be added to the country's electricity generation capacity with the inauguration of renewable energy projects.
"The country's first geothermal energy generator would be launched in the coming year," he said, Haeri was quoted as saying.
