Regulation bureau campaigns to raise awareness
The bureau plays a vital role in raising awareness in Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi's Regulation and Supervision Bureau and its Waterwise and Powerwise offices educatd the Emirate’s youth on how to save water and electricity through a selection of interactive games, fun quizzes and competitions, at Abu Dhabi Science Festival (ADSF) 2013.
Nick Carter, director general of the Bureau said: “The Bureau plays a vital role in raising awareness and educating the general public in the sustainable use of water and electricity for future generations. Through our Waterwise and Powerwise offices we have a number of initiatives running that are already providing significant data on usage patterns which help shape the future water and energy roadmap for the UAE. But we also have a responsibility to inform the younger generation on the importance of sustainability from an early age and help create good habits now, hence our participation at ADSF 2013.”
Making their inaugural appearance at the bureau’s stand are two new mascots: Qattra (water) and Barq (lighting bolt) who are providing information to consumers of all ages on the importance of using water and electricity wisely as well as providing top tips to help conserve these resources.
“Conserving our natural resources is a serious issue,” continued Rashed Al Rashedi, the bureau’s deputy director general, “But it is imperative that we create messages for UAE residents of every age.”
