New grid station to increase supply in Muscat
The station can draw up to 745MW of electricity
The Oman Electricity Transmission Company (OETC) inaugurated the Al Misfah 220Kv grid station near Rusayl village. The total cost of the station is US $64mn.
The station can draw up to 745MW of electricity from the Barka III power plant, which is fired by two gas turbines and a steam engine. The project was executed after a study conducted in cooperation with the Muscat Electricity Distribution Company.
The Al Misfah station has been connected with the high voltage grid station in Madinat as Sultan Qaboos and Airport Heights. The station is an important stations in OETC’s network from Barka to Al Misfah. The project was designed to reduce load on other grid stations and improve transmission network .
OETC future plan's include setting up a 400Kv Izki grid station which will be connected to Al Misfah station.
