The UAE Project to Assist Pakistan has reported that it has completed 64 Pakistani water projects across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province and the south of the country. The scheme, valued at US $5.77 million, has been aimed at supporting the water sector in rural and remote areas of Pakistan.

The project will help to supply clean drinking water to areas that have suffered from health problems as a direct result of water pollution and poor water availability. In the past, these regions have been particularly affected by illnesses such as hepatitis and malaria.

A statement on the scheme, reported by the Emirates News Agency, says that 44 villages within Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and 20 more in the south of Wazirstan, have benefitted from the scheme.
