UAE-based Belhasa Projects has announced that it has been awarded a contract by Sorouh and Tabreed to work on a 10,000RT expansion project for the Shams Abu Dhabi district cooling project. The deal is part of a 20,000RT expansion development at the site.

“The region’s district cooling industry is rapidly expanding and we have the technical expertise to deliver projects on schedule and up to standards. Apart from setting up of a district cooling plant, it is the maintenance that is a main challenge to utility companies. We are focused on minimising the operating cost for the plant in Shams Abu Dhabi and keeping the project on schedule by delivering as promised,” said Aziz Ayoub, Belhasa Projects’ business unit manager.

The firm says that the project includes the relocation of existing cooling towers, pumps and piping to the new location.

In a separate deal, the firm has also been awarded a contract to build a new sewage pumping station for Westin Abu Dhabi Golf Resort, which is located within the Abu Dhabi Golf Club.
