Doosan Heavy ships desal plant to Saudi
Vietnam subsidiary providing a second 3,500 tonne unit
South Korea’s Doosan Heavy Industries is reportedly shipping its second desalination plant to Saudi Arabia, as part of Doosan’s $1.2 billion contract to work on the Ras Al Khair project in Yanbu. Bloomberg has reported that the project is a three-storey, single piece “plug and play” unit that will produce around 91 million litres of drinking water per day when operational.
Doosan’s contract for the Ras Al Khair scheme includes producing eight desalination units built by Doosan Vina in Quang Ngai, in the centre of Vietnam. When all units are installed, the desalination plant will have a collective output of three quarters of a billion litres of water per day, according to the report.
Shipping to the project will take a month.
