Power and automation giant ABB has launched a new line of industrial drive modules, called ACS850, which are easily configurable to meet the needs of several industries such as the chemicals, utilities and oil and gas sectors.

The drives have been specifically designed for the region’s original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and systems integrators.

“ABB’s new ACS850 is the first industrial drive range from ABB that has been designed with OEMs and panel builders in mind,” said Aki Maenpaa, ABB local business unit manager for drives and motors, at a recent launch event.

“This means these customers can build their own, customized drive solutions while reaping the benefits of proven ABB drive technology."

Built-in energy-saving calculators continuously measure in KWh and MWh precisely how much energy the drive has consumed since installation, as well as listing the amount of energy saved in comparison to the preceding method of flow control.

ABB says its ACS850 modules include everything that is required for a complete drive, offering a wide range of in-built options such as different I/O and communications.

As the modules are designed for cabinet assembly, they can be mounted side-by-side, and their size means that more drives can be stored in one cabinet.

ACS850 modules include everything that is required for a complete drive. They offer a wide range of inbuilt options such as different I/O and communications and typically have an IP20 enclosure class.
