Masdar set to sponsor World Energy Forum
Firm says event reflects leading role UAE has in renewable energy
Masdar has reported that it will be one of the lead sponsors at the World Energy Forum 2012, set to be held in Dubai between October 22nd and 24th. The event will see leaders from around the world gather in the UAE to focus on supporting global energy security.
“Masdar is committed to supporting all efforts aimed at strengthening the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) position in the energy sector, particularly in relation to renewable energy. World leaders and clean energy experts will gather at the World Energy Forum to discuss policies and solutions that address the challenges of energy security. Hosting this forum in the United Arab Emirates demonstrates the great confidence the world places in the UAE’s ability to play a leading role in the renewable energy sector,” said Masdar CEO Dr Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber.
The World Energy Forum will be held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, and is the first time that the high-level international conference has been held outside the United Nations’ New York headquarters. Over two thousand delegates are expected to attend, including a number of heads of states and numerous national energy ministers.
“Masdar believes that open global platforms encouraging collaboration and action are crucial to finding solutions to global challenges. In this effort, Masdar will host the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week next January to address the energy, water and sustainability challenges the world currently faces,” Dr Al Jaber added.
