Penspen, the oil and gas engineering group, has agreed a contract with Siemens for the provision of engineering and procurement services at a new simple cycle power project in the south of Iraq. Siemens has agreed a base scope with Iraq’s State Company for Oil Projects (SCOP) to work on the engineering and supply of the plant, with Siemens then contracting Penspen for work on the site.

Under the deal, which will see work begin shortly and continue until October 2013, Penspen will provide engineering and supply of the Balance of Plant (BOP) equipment and materials.

“This is an important project for Penspen as it will provide a solid basis for the further development of our presence in Iraq and throughout the Gulf Region,” said senior project manager Eduard Ilie.
Michael Simm, director of onshore, added: “We are delighted to be awarded this project by Siemens and look forward to working with them to deliver a great outcome for SCOP.”
